How to release striving, reconnect with God, and find renewal in His presence this season.

Have you been carrying more than you were meant to hold? Spiritual rest is the invitation to stop striving, quiet the inner noise, and return to the presence of God. If your soul feels tired, this gentle encouragement will help you reconnect with the One who restores you.

There is a kind of tiredness that sleep alone cannot fix.

You may be functioning well on the outside—showing up, accomplishing tasks, caring for others—but inwardly feel weary, disconnected, or spiritually dry. Many women know how to keep going long after their soul has begun asking for rest.

This is where spiritual rest becomes sacred.

Spiritual rest is not about doing more for God.
It is about being with Him.

It is the deep exhale that comes when you remember you do not have to carry everything alone.

It is the quiet assurance that you are loved apart from productivity. It is the peace that settles in your heart when you return to the presence of the One who knows you fully.

Jesus offers this invitation so tenderly:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” - Matthew 11:28

Notice that He does not say, Come when you’ve figured it out. He says, Come weary.

So often, we try to earn rest after everything is finished. But the Kingdom way is different. We receive rest first—and from that place, we live.

Spiritual rest may look like:

  • Sitting quietly with God for a few moments before the day begins

  • Reading one Scripture slowly and letting it nourish your heart

  • Taking a walk and noticing His beauty in creation

  • Releasing anxious thoughts through prayer

  • Worshiping in your kitchen

  • Pausing to breathe and whisper, Lord, I’m here

Sometimes spiritual rest is less about adding another practice and more about returning to simple presence.

Psalm 23 reminds us:

“He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” - Psalm 23:2–3

He refreshes your soul. Not you striving harder. Not you fixing everything. Not you performing for approval.

God is still the Shepherd. You are still the beloved one being led.

As September begins and routines shift again, this may be your invitation to pause with intention.

Before you fill your calendar, tend to your soul.

Before you push ahead, return to the quiet waters.

Before you carry more, receive what God longs to give.

Spiritual rest is not a luxury. It is a holy necessity.

And friend, you are allowed to receive it.

Questions for Reflection:

  1. Where do I feel spiritually weary right now?

  2. What has been crowding out quiet connection with God?

  3. What simple practice could help me return to His presence this week?

Prayer: "Lord, Thank You that I do not have to strive for what You freely offer. Meet me in my weariness and restore what feels depleted within me. Quiet the noise, calm my heart, and help me return to Your presence. Teach me to receive spiritual rest as a gift of grace. Lead me beside still waters and refresh my soul. Amen."
